The celebration of a victory and bitterness of defeat, fear of death and desire to survive, melancholy on the family, disorder of a life and weight of everyday soldier's work – all it is visually reflected in the photos made the Soviet and German photodocumentation officers. At an exhibition pictures of people are presented, many of which by right are considered as classics of the Soviet photoart: M.Alpert, L.Zaharova, O.Knorring, P.Luknitsky, N.Petrov, M.Redkin, J.Rjumkin, V.Tarasevich, V.Temin, P.Troshkin. A.Shajhet, E.Haldej, G.Homzor, and others. High level of shooting notes also works of German photographers. They tell much from this that could not or the Soviet press photographers in a war initial stage had not time to remove.
The exhibition consists of five sections:
«Blitzkrieg. 1941г.»,
«In opposition. 1941-1943гг.»,
«Front everyday life»,
«On the occupied earth»
«On the West. 1944-1945гг.».
The majority of the photos presented at an exhibition earlier were not published. Also among exhibits personal things and documents of the Soviet press photographers are presented.
This exhibition – one more step to understanding of that universal, international tragedy. Here visitors can find answers to for a long time interesting questions: for the sake of what transferred inhuman sufferings and deprivations participants of this terrible war, what purposes were pursued by the German soldier, having come to another's country for it, what mission was carried out by the Soviet soldier, protecting the native earth and releasing the people of Europe from a fascist plague. The exhibition will help not only to find answers, but also to think of other questions: how much we appreciate what surrounds us? What have given, have lost and people during that terrible time have simultaneously got?
The documentary photographs presented at an exhibition do not require comments – they speak for themselves, mosaically telling about human life in the war.
With the war beginning each person becomes its participant, is not dependent on on what party he is at war, battles at the front or works in back. This grief lays nobody aside. That people did not forget about it and the exhibition «In a lens war 1941-1945» has been organised.
