Scientific Achievements: Practical Application in Archiving: To the 50th Anniversary of the All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Records and Archives Management (VNIIDAD)
Abstact
The article reviews works of the All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Records and Archives Management (VNIIDAD) authorities and researchers in some periods of its 50 years of existence. It identifies the main research areas and projects of the Institute: studies in archiving and document management; use of modern information technologies; refresher courses and advanced professional training of the personnel in the regions in archiving and in document support of management; information services to organizations and citizens; international cooperation; archival documents safeguarding; development of expert evaluation methods; development of the archive finding aids system; safe storage of scientific and technical documentation. In 1993 the Institute participated in expert review of Fundamental Principles of Legislation of the Russian Federation on the Archival Fond and Archives, and of the Federal Law “On Archiving in the Russian Federation” in 2004. Their adoption put national archiving on a more solid legal footing, defined major trends and tasks of the archives and archiving authorities of the Russian Federation, brought the activities of archival bodies under regulation, introduced regulatory and procedural guidelines (recommendations, rules, instructions elucidating and elaboration the administration of the legislative rules).
