Actions of Soviet Aviation for the Benefit of Guerillas in 1942–1944: A Synopsis of Documents from the State Archive of the Republic of Crimea
Abstact
The article describes fond compositon, source nature and content of the documents stored in the State Archive of the Republic of Crimea (GARK) that concern actions of the Soviet aviation in the benefit of the Crimea guerillas for the period from January 20 to December 29, 1943: orders, instructions, guidances of the Central Staff for the Guerilla, of the front and army military command, of the Crimea Obkom (regional committee of the communist party) and their correspondence with the Crimea Staff for the Guerilla, as well as reports, statements and memorandums, operation and intelligence summaries, information and general report of the Crimea Staff for the Guerilla activities addressed to higher party and military agencies. Of great importance are texts of radio messages from the command of Crimea guerilla detachments and formations to the Central Committee and Obkom of the All-Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks), to the staff of the front reporting military and political actions and also the outgoing cryptographic messages of the Crimea Obkom and the Staff for the Guerilla to the guerillas and military command. Of great importance for studying the enemy actions and air interference in the occupied territories are files containing documents of the invaders: orders and instructions on fighting Soviet guerillas, reports and reviews on reprisal raids against the guerillas in the occupied territories, including Crimea. The author concludes that a further comprehensive study of the issue based on documents of central military and state archives is necessary.
