Welcome to the

International scientific conference

Purpose of the Conference: to investigate the problems of an archival search both in Russia and abroad and to make a contribution on a historical memory over the Russian role at the Victory over the Nazis.

Objectives:

- To discuss the problem of updating Russian and foreign archive documents related to the Great Patriotic War;

- To analyze the scope of the war that lead to the victory over the Nazi Germany;

- To study the main results and lessons of the war, their impact on the modern historical events:

- To define the range of problems at the archival search;

- To estimate the exploration of archive sources at Russia, Europe and the US;

Topics of the Conference:

1. The World War II and the Great Patriotic War at the Russian and foreing historiography;

2. Archival access problems at Russia and abroad. Personal fonds and collections, their usage at the state and public archives;

3. Military struggle at the Great Patriotic War fronts. Military leaders and their art;

4. USSR at the international policy on the eve and during the war. Anti-Hitler coalition;

5. Soviet authorities and the society. Civil endowment to the Victory. Public health, science, culture and education during the war;

6. Soviet economics during the war. Evacuation of industry and population. The front and the rear. Lend-lease and it significance;

7. German occupation and its policy of the frightening. Pillage of cultural values and the problem of restitution;

8. Archives during the war. Their evacuation and re-evacuation. Archivist gallantry at the saving of the national property;

9. Historical memory on the Great Patriotic War, 1941 – 1945 at Russia, CIS and EU;

10. Modern myths on the Great Patriotic War history as a way to the neo-Nazi rebirth.

Regulations:

Plenary section report: 15 – 20 minutes.

Section report: 10 – 15 minutes.

Discussion address: 5 – 7 minutes.

The reports will be published at the collection book of the conference.

Registration forms and abstracts of reports are accepted until March 15, 2015.

Participation in the Conference is free.

The Organizing Committee reimburses participants’ expenses (economy class trip and accommodation in Russia, meals at the Conference).
