Karamzin in periodic literature, censorship materials and dissertation researches in the 70th – 90th of 19th century
Annotation
A common view of the place of N.M. Karamzin in Russian culture confines it to the beginning of the 19th century. In actuality, however, the interest to the personality and the works of the writer had not waned until the end of the century. Archival sources give evidence that his works were a living cultural phenomenon, they remained a subject of heated discussions, formed historical consciousness of a Russian man and pushed him to comprehension of Russian reality. In this situation the first scientific works that give an objective evaluation of Karamzin’s heritage play a great role.
